Hey, I'm Kabrena

I’m a Special Needs Parent Coach, Board Certified Behavior Analyst and Founder of Scratch Made Consulting. I’m here to help you develop the healthy habit of ensuring you make time for you. My goal is to help you take the guesswork of figuring out what type of Self-Care you might respond to and finding one that works. I’m here to hold you accountable towards scheduling, non negotiable me time.

My Story

 

I’ve worked in the field of autism and other developmental and cognitive disabilities for nearly 10 years and felt compelled to switch focus after pursuing my business full time. When I’m not serving my clients with Scratch Made Consulting, you can find me teaching dance at my local Visual Performing Arts High School as an Adjunct Dance Instructor.

 I received my Masters of Science in Counseling with an advanced degree in Applied Behavior Analysis from Nova Southeastern University in 2017.

I’m married to an amazing man who supports me and is the name generator for Scratch Made. You can find us cooking together in the kitchen, going for a ride at a nearby bike trail, traveling just because, and having many laughs with our family and friends.

I know how stressful life can be. I recently overcame personal challenges of burnout due to working in an environment that was unhealthy, unbecoming which devastated my morale. Under those circumstances, my physical and emotional well being was impacted that in turn triggered several unhealthy habits.

I was staying late at work, going from one client to the next without eating, ensuring that my clients had everything they needed, even if it meant getting caught in the rain (on more than one occasion) to load my car to go see them.

They were my number one priority.  Most days I felt depleted, empty, and burnt out. Too many months had gone by before I realized I needed to find my happy and to make the necessary changes to prioritize me. 

Eventually, I decided to devise a self-care plan of my own. One that included measurable goals, pinpointing self-care type, behavior science backing and, wait for it… positive reinforcement.

The Result? One for the books and I couldn’t help but think, why didn’t I do this sooner? The same goes for you. If you have to sit and think of reasons why you shouldn’t dedicate this time to yourself, then the answer is, you probably need this.
